HOW IT ALL STARTED
I Needed Exposure. So I Built It.
Last year, I came across a Summer School in Hungary almost by chance.
I didn’t know it at the time, but that experience would change the way I thought about my future.
I met people my age and others with more experience than me - people who had already explored international programmes, career paths and opportunities I didn’t even know existed.
They shared their experiences, encouraged me and, most importantly, believed in me.
For the first time, I thought:
Maybe I can do these things too.
That was when I started thinking seriously about my career and stepping outside the mindset I had developed in school. I began taking action - becoming more involved at university, joining a debate club, participating in MUN and Erasmus+ programmes, pursuing my C2 in French and gaining professional experience at Dialectica.
Looking back, I realized that what I needed wasn’t more ambition.
I needed exposure.
Exposure to opportunities.
Exposure to knowledge.
Exposure to people who had already done what I was only beginning to imagine.
Around the same time, I was reading The Second Sex by Simone de Beauvoir and becoming more conscious of the inequalities women continue to experience.
It was a period of growing up in which I began to understand that equal rights do not always mean equal opportunities, visibility or treatment.
I started looking around me differently.
And I began thinking about how many young people have the ambition and potential to do more, but simply don’t know what is out there - or haven’t yet met the person who makes them believe they can.
That is why I founded Women in International Careers Network.
A professional community connecting people with opportunities, insights and role models across international careers.
WIC is open to everyone. But I wanted women to be at the heart of its mission - creating greater visibility, representation and opportunities for women in international careers.
Because sometimes, all it takes is one opportunity, one conversation or one person who believes in you.
This is just the beginning.
If you would like to be part of WIC Network - as a member, a mentor, or simply as someone who believes in the idea - I’d love to have you with us.
